On the morning of June 17, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, conducted a briefing to members of the diplomatic corps in Cambodia to apprise them regarding the recent tension on the Cambodian-Thai border and the decision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to notify the International Court of Justice (ICJ) of its intention to seek a recourse on the Cambodian-Thai border dispute in four areas, namely Mom Bei, Tamone Touch temple, Tamone Thom temple, and Ta Krabey temple.
His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed Cambodia’s consistent position in resolving border disputes with neighboring countries through peaceful means and based on international law, including through seeking assistance from the International Court of Justice, with a view to avoid risk of escalating tensions and use of military force. The four areas mentioned above have been a source of hostilities between the two peoples and armed clashes, despite efforts to resolve them for decades through bilateral mechanisms.
