Meeting with H.E. Ms. Ülkü Kocaefe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye ( 26 April 2023 )


On 26 April 2023, H.E. Dr. CHEM Widhya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received H.E. Ms. Ülkü Kocaefe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Cambodia, to further explore untapped potentials of how to deepen and develop Cambodia-Türkiye relations to reach a greater height. At the meantime, Ambassador Ülkü Kocaefe introduced Mrs. Zöre Akşahin Şimşek, who has been appointed as the Turkish Commercial Counsellor to Cambodia.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the past years ‘achievements made by the two countries and convinced that Cambodia-Türkiye relations and cooperation​ will be strengthened and expanded for the mutual benefits, particularly the elevation of the political trust and economic cooperation.

H.E. Dr. CHEM Widhya applauded the increase in Cambodia- Türkiye trade volume from 30 million USD to more than 100 million USD in the last four years. H.E. Dr. CHEM Widhya thanked TIKA, the Turkish development agency, for providing development assistance to Cambodia, especially on the housing projects in Saang district.

H.E. Dr. CHEM Widhya also welcomed and congratulated Ms. Zöre Akşahin Şimşek on her recent appointment and hoped that this Resident Office of the Counsellor for Commercial Affairs will contribute to the bilateral trade to reach the target of $1 billion USD set by the respective leaders of the two countries.
