UNESCO officially inscribes Cambodian Memorial Sites: From the Centers of Repression to Places for Peace and Reflection as World Cultural Heritage


On 11 July 2025, Her Excellency UN Bophanna, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Cambodia to UNESCO in Paris, accompanied Her Excellency Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who led Cambodian delegation to attend the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee at UNESCO Headquarters, from 6-16 July 2025, in Paris, Republic of France,.

In this occasion, according to decision No.​ 47 COM 8B.14, UNESCO officially decided to inscribe Cambodian Memorial Sites : From the Centres of Repression to Places for Peace and Reflection (Toul Sleng Genocide Museum​,​ Former Detention Center M-13, and Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre) as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage​, on 11 July 2025 at 17:35 in Paris, Republic of France (10:35pm in Cambodia)
