On 21 February 2025, Her Excellency EAT Sophea, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Kanat TUMYSH, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia and Kazakhstan.

Her Excellency EAT Sophea exchanged views with Ambassador Kanat TUMYSH on strengthening and deepening bilateral relations and cooperation in potential areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and culture. Her Excellency EAT Sophea also expressed hope that continued operation of direct flights between Cambodia and Kazakhstan, will boost tourism, people-to-people contacts and expend business opportunities between the two countries. 

Both sides also expressed commitments to further enhance cooperation on international fora and emphasized the importance of bilateral consultations between the two Foreign Ministries. They agreed to convene the first meeting in the near future.
