His Excellency Chum Sounry has a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Weadon Epp


On the morning of 5 May 2025, His Excellency Chum Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, had a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister, Indo-Pacific Branch, Global Affairs Canada, who visited Cambodia to discuss bilateral relations and the upcoming Francophonie Summit to be hosted by Cambodia in 2026. 

Both sides exchanged views on and underlined their shared interest in deepening Cambodia–Canada cooperation across key areas, including trade, investment, tourism, demining, defense, and anti-crime capacity-building. His Excellency Chum Sounry welcomed the upcoming Canadian big trade delegation’s visit to Cambodia scheduled at the end of this May, stressing it would pave the way for further promoting bilateral trade and investment cooperation. Secretary of State Sounry referred to the increasing number of Canadian tourists to Cambodia and suggested the two countries to consider signing an MoU on tourism cooperation. 

The Secretary of State briefed his guest on Cambodia’s preparations to host the 20th Francophonie Summit, where Cambodia welcomes cooperation and support from all member countries of the International Organisation of Francophonie, including Canada.
