On 20 May 2025, His Excellency CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Mr. Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Cambodia, with residence in Bangkok, discussed ways to further advance bilateral relations during the Ambassador’s visit to Phnom Penh.

Secretary of State CHUM Sounry highlighted the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the successful official visit of Samdech Techo HUN Sen, President of the Senate, to the UAE in December 2024 as foundations for strengthening and expanding Cambodia-UAE relationship and cooperation. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Aldhaheri’s engagements with relevant Cambodian ministries would help accelerate the implementation of signed agreements and expedite discussions on pending ones.

He also proposed that both sides consider establishing a Bilateral Consultations mechanism between the two foreign ministries and Visa Exemption Agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders.
